Breast pain can be caused by breast engorgement. Engorgement is painful condition caused by the build-up of fluids in the breast tissue. If left untreated, it could progress to mastitis. Mastitis is defined as an infection of the breast that may or may not be bacterial. Refer to our article on Mastitis for further information.
