The Mumasil Breastmilk Collection Shells are designed to sit comfortably in your nursing bra. The soft and flexible silicone base provides an optimal fit, sitting comfortably against your skin. The main purpose is collecting the breast milk that would normally be lost from a let-down or leaking breasts.
Use the shells whilst breastfeeding or pumping on the opposite breast or to sit discretely inside your maternity bra in-between feeds.
Fantastic also if you are suffering from cracked or sore nipples as they will let the nipple breath between feeds.
The Mumasil Breastmilk Collections shells feature a built-in spout for easy removal of collected milk. Simply empty the milk after each feed and place it back on the breast.

Place the Mumasil Breast Milk Collection Shell inside your nursing bra with the silicone side opening facing up.

Lift your nursing bra on to your breast, aligning the silicone opening with your nipple and placing it centred over your nipple.

How do the Mumasil Breast Milk Collection Shells work?
The shells work by comfortably sitting in your nursing bra and catching the extra milk that you would usually leak between feeds.
What material is the Mumasil Breast Milk Collection Shells made from?
The Mumasil Breast Milk Collection Shells are made from 100% FDA approved food grade silicone and food grade PP. They are BPA Free, PVC, cadmium and lead FREE.
How do I clean or sanitise my Mumasil Breast Milk Collection Shells?
Wash up in warm soapy water or place in the dishwasher (top rack). Can be placed in a steam steriliser or boiling water.
Please do not use abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.
How do I dry my Mumasil Breast Milk Collection Shells?
Allow the Mumasil Breast Milk Collection Shells to air dry in a clean area. Store dry in a clean area or clean, closed container when not in use. Do not store wet or damp.
Who is the Mumasil Breast Milk Collection Shells suited for?
Any breastfeeding mother who wants to catch precious breast milk that would usually be lost in a breast pad, when feeding, or between feeds.
What should I do if the breast shells are causing pain?
The Mumasil Breast Milk Collection Shells should not cause any pain. If you experience any pain it is usually caused by your bra being too tight.
When you insert the shells we recommend loosening your bra right off so that you hardly feel the shells at all. They don't have to be tight at all to prevent leaking as the silicone moulds to your breast to catch the milk. You may sometimes need to further loosen your bra as your breast fills if you are wearing them for longer periods in between feeds.
Can I wear the Mumasil Breast Milk Collection Shells at night?
We recommend that you do not wear the Mumasil Breast Milk Collection Shells as there is a good chance they will leak.
How should my Mumasil Breast Milk Collection Shells sit inside my bra?
The Mumasil Breast Milk Collection Shells should sit comfortably on the breast and not press into the breast. You may need to adjust your maternity bra to allow for the collection shells to sit inside your maternity bra with less pressure against your breast.
Saver or Shells?
We get this question a lot. It’s not an easy question to answer, as everybody is so different in their milk production so we have categorised a table with different scenarios and which product suits each situation.
There are also a number of factors that influence the decision such as how much milk you want to collect. You may just want enough milk to miss a feed every now and then, or you may have to go back to work after 4-6 months and want to build a huge stash so you can continue to breast feed and bottle feed with expressed milk.
We do recommend if you do have to go back to work try and introduce a bottle of expressed milk 2-3 times per week as early as possible to avoid bottle refusal. The best bottle we have found on the market for mixed feeding is the Comotomo brand. They are on the pricey side but have an excellent reputation with breastfed babies.
I Leak a Lot!!!
Baby 0-3 Months
If you leak a lot or suffer from oversupply or engorgement we would recommend the Breast Milk Saver. The Breast Milk Saver holds 100ml and if you are using it whilst feeding from the opposite breast a good supply of milk could quite easily fill the milk saver up in the early days when your milk supply hasn’t quite settled.
If you need to collect as much milk as possible we recommend the Breast Milk Shells whilst you are going about your everyday tasks at home. Not only do they save on the cost of breast pads they also help your nipples air between feeds if you are experiencing sore or cracked nipples.
Baby 3 months plus
If you are still leaking a lot once your milk has settled or you are still suffering from oversupply and engorgement then stick with the Breast Milk Saver. The Breast Milk Saver is so handy to quickly relieve engorgement between feeds.
I Leak a Little Bit.
Baby 0-3 Months
If you notice your breast pads are holding a bit of milk between each feed but your not suffering from engorgement or oversupply then both products may suit you. The best way to find out which product would suit you in this situation best is to place a cup over your breast and measure the milk you leak. If you catch up to 40ml in the cup per feed on the opposite side you may only need the Collection Shells. If you catch more then the Milk Saver will be best suited.
Again it all depends on how much milk you want to collect. Both products can be used to maximise the milk collection.
Baby 3 months Plus
At 3 months your milk should have settled and if you aren’t leaking a lot then the Collection Shells would be perfect. The Collection Shells are more versatile as the can be worn just about all day (not to be used when sleeping) whist you are going about your everyday routine and as well as whilst you are feeding.
I Don’t Leak
The Breast Milk Saver is handy to catch the milk if you can manually bring on a letdown but if you aren't leaking without some stimulation of the breast then we wouldn't recommend these products for you. As the Breast Milk Saver and the Collection Shells rely on leaking and let down to catch the milk, if you aren’t leaking any milk there is going to be nothing to catch with these products.
